Summer Holiday Locations

Summer Holiday Locations

There are many great summer holiday locations worldwide which are visited by huge numbers of travellers every year. These range from bustling capital cities to sun-drenched beach resorts, from international cultural hotspots to isolated rural retreats and from relaxing oases of calm to action-packed adventure centres. Locations for every different type of summer holiday, with something to appeal to everyone, can be found everywhere from the most exotic destination to your own home country.

One very popular summer holiday location is France. It has a huge amount to offer, in part because it is such a large and diverse country. One of the main attractions is the capital, Paris, famed for its architecture, culture and retail opportunities as well as key landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame Cathedral. In more rural areas of France there is a huge focus on local produce and among the biggest of these is wine, with regions such as Languedoc being ‘under vine’ in the majority. France also has a rich sense of history, from impressive Medieval castles and grand chateaux to more recent locations, such as the D-Day beaches in Normandy. For those looking for a more relaxing holiday, the coastal areas of the French Riviera are renowned for their luxurious resort towns and wonderful beaches.

In recent years, one of the world’s growing summer holiday destinations has been Egypt and it continues to rise in popularity as many seek a degree of familiarity in a more exotic location. Enjoying the fantastic summer weather of the Mediterranean and North Africa, Egypt is excellent for both relaxing seaside breaks as well as giving visitors a chance to explore some true cultural and historical highlights such as the capital, Cairo and the impressive Pyramids of Giza. For those seeking a taste of adventure, the northern coast of Egypt is well known for its diving opportunities and is an excellent place for beginners to learn the basics of this thrilling activity.

Elsewhere, many holidaymakers flock to Florida in the southern United States for a flavour of the real American lifestyle as well as never having to worry about not having enough to do. Families with children will be particularly drawn by the wonders of Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, but that is by no means all that Florida has to offer. It benefits from a pleasant summer climate which can be enjoyed both on the beaches and across the great Everglades wetlands.

Closer to home, Great Britain is by no means short of excellent summer holiday locations. Certainly the county of Cornwall in the southwest has plenty to offer to visitors. Alongside great beaches it is a haven for surfers as it enjoys some of the best coastal waves in the country. In addition, towns such as St Ives are major cultural and artistic hotspots and there are other key attractions such as the impressive Eden Project – the largest greenhouses in the world.

Overall, there are a great number of summer holiday locations to be found across the globe with something to appeal to even the fussiest travellers. Whether you are looking for two weeks relaxing on the beach, a few days exploring a vibrant city or one of many action packed activity weekends, you will be spoilt for choice.
